Travel Tip: Spend the Night on a Vineyard
It’s no surprise that plenty of hotels pop up in areas known for wine. But what if you could actually spend the night ON a vineyard?
The cool thing about hotel located in a vineyard is that you can actually see parts of the winemaking process first hand—I’m talking about seeing teams at work harvesting in fall and pruning in spring. And, of course, you can usually taste the final product—sometimes straight from the barrels.
There’s no shortage of vineyard lodges in Sonoma County, but they come in different variations. The Vintners Inn is full-service hotel with a 92-acre vineyard in its backyard. Meanwhile, Lynmar Estate is a state-of-the-art winery with some of the oldest vines in the region that happens to have a cottage on the grounds.
It’s not all about California though. Did you know that the Palisades area has the greatest concentration of orchards, wine grapes and wineries in all of Colorado? And Wine Country Inn, near Grand Junction, has its own 20-acre vineyard.
And speaking of lesser-known wine destinations, how about…Texas? That’s right, while most people venture into Texas Hill Country from Austin, you can base yourself right on the land at places like Becker Vineyard and Grape Creek Vineyard.
